Ethan Russell: Best Seats in the House In 1968, Ethan Russell was a young American with a Nikon camera living in London and hoping to become a writer. His hobby was photography. A few years later he was one of the foremost rock photographers in the world. From his early, almost accidental, photo sessions with John Lennon and Mick Jagger he went on to photograph the legendary Rolling Stones’ “Rock n Roll Circus” and the single time that John Lennon, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards played in the first “supergroup”. He documented the Beatles “Let It Be” from start to finish. He leapfrogged America with the Stones on the ill-fated Altamont tour of 1969 and again on the celebrity studded 1972 tour. Annie Leibovitz said, “Ethan Russell was doing what no other photographer was doing at the time.” Ethan Russell is a multiple Grammy nominated author, photographer and director. He is the only photographer to have shot covers for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones & The Who. He is also a pioneer of music video. His latest book Ethan Russell: An American Story is “The first, interactive multimedia, socially enabled cross platform e-book.”

This will be an extraordinary evening of photography, music and stories!

“Without doubt one of the most unique and memorable shows in recent years.” Gavin Farmer, Theatre Manager, Festival Place, Edmonton, Alberta

“It was a night of intimate insights and beautiful photography that I had the pleasure to attend. Patrons had the opportunity to ‘peek behind the curtain of the rock ‘n’ roll world,’ treated to a slideshow of his most well known and rare photography, paired with great music and even better stories…

“I was not surprised to find that Festival Place’s seats were filled with members of every generation, from head-bobbing grandpas to nostalgic fangirls like me. We were living proof that an appreciation for good music and great photography transcends the generational divide.”

“”Ethan Russell has taken some of the greatest pictures in Rock and Roll … maybe the greatest ever.” Bill Wyman
