A remarkable story of a surprising friendship, this solo show has been affecting audiences and wowing critics across the country since it premiered at Toronto’s Summerworks Theatre Festival in 2007. In 1985, while she was a student at the National Theatre School in Montreal, Brooke Johnson became friends with Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Through reminiscences, journal entries and correspondence, Brooke gives us a personal insight into the man and the times that is “not to be missed” . At once vital and charming, poignant and very funny, Trudeau Stories is about friendship and loss… and about who the heck we think we are.

The Playwright and Performer:

Brooke Johnson is a 1987 graduate of the Acting Program of the National Theatre School of Canada. In addition to premiering new Canadian plays at theatres such as the Tarragon, Theatre Passe Muraille, Montreal's Centaur Theare and Toronto's The Theatre Centre, she has played classics at regional companies such as Theatre Calgary, The Manitoba Theatre Centre and The Grand Theatre in London. Brooke has performed Trudeau Stories in theatres from Newfoundland to the Yukon, from the National Arts Centre in Ottawa to the Milford Heights Senior's Residence on the Northern Arm of Halifax Bay. Amongst other acting honours, she has two Gemini Awards for roles in Canadian Television, & four Dora Mavor Moore nominations for her theatre work in Toronto.
